Power Yoga

“I love the simplicity and quiet of the practice. It was a challenging, sweaty class (and) I walked away feeling restored physically and emotionally. My fear is people will see the name power and be intimidated. Don’t be. It includes all basic asanas or poses...I love getting lost in the movements and having some quiet time on my mat. Highly recommend.” —Kim A.

Benefits

Space. This class uses essential language - meaning your instructor will use the fewest words possible to guide your practice. This provides that all important thing we so often lack - space.

Strength and endurance. Power Yoga is a physically demanding yoga practice and through that challenge, strength and endurance are built in body, mind, and spirit.

Confidence. This practice will challenge you in the best of ways and as you gain strength on your mat, you will also gain confidence to take with you off your mat and into the rest of your life.

Tips for Beginners

*always let your instructor know you’re new when you arrive for class

Towel and water. You will get sweaty! Bring a towel to use on your mat and yourself; water breaks are encouraged:-)

Modify as needed. As you begin your journey with Power Yoga, be sure to modify poses as needed. Need a break from down dog? Take child’s pose instead. Not ready for full chaturanga? Use your knees to lighten the load. Side plank? Root down on a knee and shin. Every pose has a less demanding version - use them as you get started.

Feeling progress. Unlike our other yoga classes, Power Yoga provides a very similar flow from one class to the next - allowing you to feel the progress you’re making in your practice. As you build strength, you’ll find greater ease in each pose while using fewer and fewer modifications.

Pushing your edge. Perhaps the most important part of Power Yoga is pushing yourself physically to find your ‘edge’ - that mental place where you've reached your limit. With practice, you’ll push your edge - strengthening your mind, body, and spirit in the process.
